Salted Maple Old Fashioned

Old Fashioned meet Dirty Martini.

Matching the toffee and peppery notes of Stauning Rye with a complex layer of sweetness and saltiness through the addition of maple syrup and olive brine.


  • 2 oz. (50ml) Stauning Rye Whisky
  • 3/4 oz. (20ml) Maple syrup & Olive brine mix
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters


  1. Preparation: Premix 2 parts maple syrup and 1 part olive brine together in a measuring jug and stir until well combined (store in the fridge). Prepare a mixing glass and a rocks glass.
  2. Mix: In the mixing glass, combine the Stauning Rye, maple and olive mix, and bitters.
  3. Stir: Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for about 20-30 seconds. This will chill, dilute, and combine the mixture.
  4. Serve: To you glass add a large ice cube or fill with ice cubes. Strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the rocks glass.
  5. Garnish (optional): Consider garnishing with two skewered olives for a classic touch.
