The “Danish” Old Fashioned

Inspired by the famous Danish baked pastry; a delightful cocktail featuring our 100% soft malted rye whisky.

The Stauning Rye's toasted, buttery flavours complement the almond creaminess of the Orgeat. Apricot adds a subtle fruity touch, while Branca menta enhances the minty notes in Stauning. Garnish with typical Danish Pastry toppings like cardamom and poppy seed.


  • 2 oz. (50ml) Stauning Rye Whisky
  • ¼ oz. (5ml) Crème d’Abricot liqueur
  • ¼ oz. (5ml) Orgeat syrup


  1. Preparation: Prepare a mixing glass and a rocks glass. If desired, chill the rocks glass by filling it with ice and setting it aside.
  2. Mix: In the mixing glass, combine the Stauning Rye, Crème d’Abricot, and Orgeat.
  3. Stir: Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir gently for about 20-30 seconds. This will chill and dilute the mixture slightly.
  4. Serve: If you've chilled the rocks glass, dump the ice. Add a large ice cube or several smaller ones to the glass. Strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the rocks glass.
  5. Enjoy: Sip and savour your simplified Stauning Rye Old Fashioned!
